Congratulations to all our event participants!

Thank you for participating in our 23rd annual Racing & Walking event. Over 500 people ran the 5k race, hosted by the THS Scholarship Foundation and the Trumbull Chamber of Commerce, and over 75 walked the 2 mile Health Walk hosted by Trumbull Community Women. Our racers ranged in age from 6 years to 87 years! To kick the morning events off, the PTA hosted Kids Fun Run had 225 participants who challenged themselves in race lengths ranging from the 50 yard dash to the one mile race.

Check out these web sites for Race results and the pictures taken at the Finish Line.

We look forward to seeing you next year.

The Great Pumpkin Classic 5k Road Race Is Ready For You!

You're invited to the 23rd edition of one of the best known races in CT. Last year we went "Retro" and returned to our 5K roots. Most runners don't know that the original Great Pumpkin Classic (which was a 4 miler for 19 years) started off as a 5k in 1991 & 1992 ! We tweaked the course to 3.1 miles, redesigned the last half mile to eliminate a hill and made it even more family friendly. The results showed we made the right move- over 550 finishers joined us for the largest finishing number in many years! We would love for you to help us break that number this year.

Over the years, The Great Pumpkin Classic has generated over $160,000 to the Trumbull High Scholarship Foundation for students in financial need. Since its start in 1991 the race has attracted runners from over 85 towns in CT, more than 15 states, and has had winners from five different countries. American running legend Bill Rogers has been here twice along with American Olympic runners & qualifiers. It was also the site for the USATF State 4 mile Championship for eight years.

New England Runner magazine rated the GPC 'one of the top 50 races in New England' for ten years in a row. The picture that was used for Bill Rogers' shoe sponsor poster was taken on our Great Pumpkin course and used nationally for two years. With that much history we were happy to go retro!

The new course is linked on this site and will be the same as last year. You’ll have a great run thru the neighborhood and there will be a lot of fun & food waiting for you at the end! Tell your friends, bring your family (we even have baby sitters!), for the 5k run, the 2 mile walk, and the many kids fun runs on our track. And of course we will always welcome more volunteers & sponsors!
